"EL FLORIDITA" 2017 Tales of the Cocktail Poster

Price: $30.00
"My mojito in La Bodeguita, My daiquiri in El Floridita." -Ernest Hemingway

El Floridita was Ernest Hemingway's favorite bar in Havana, Cuba and the bar returned the favor by creating a life-size bronze statue of Papa standing in his spot at the bar. This poster was designed to commemorate its 200th anniversary, and Tales of the Cocktail is planning an event at the bar in October to help them celebrate. Imagine, just two years after the Battle of New Orleans, the bar was established in 1817, and has been in the same location for a good part of that time.

Known as "The Cradle of the Daiquiri", El Floridita even created a special one for Hemingway, to accommodate his diabetes. My poster honors two of the most important cantiñeros in the bar's history, and the Hemingway statue, and the decor, and of course the daiquiris. The aged patina of Havana inspired my image, as well as the vintage cigar boxes and postcards the country is known for.
